Damian Marley, the youngest son of reggae legend Bob Marley, is known for his fusion of reggae, dancehall, hip hop and rock music. He has released four solo albums, including the Grammy-winning Welcome to Jamrock (2005) and Stony Hill (2017), as well as collaborations with Nas, Mick Jagger, Skrillex and others.
But besides his official discography, Damian Marley has also recorded many songs that have not been released on any album or have been featured on various compilations, soundtracks and mixtapes. These songs showcase his versatility, creativity and lyrical skills, as well as his collaborations with other artists from different genres.
One of these collections is Rare Joints Vol. 2, a fan-made compilation that gathers 19 tracks by Damian Marley that are hard to find or have been leaked online. The compilation covers a wide range of styles and moods, from the upbeat and catchy \"Something For You (Gang War Riddim)\" and \"Get A Light\" with Snoop Dogg, to the conscious and militant \"No More Weapons\" with Steel Pulse and \"Lyrical 44\" with Method Man, Redman and Stephen Marley.
The compilation also includes some remixes and covers of classic songs, such as \"Master Blaster\" by Stevie Wonder, \"Kaya\" by Bob Marley and \"Could You Be Loved\" by Bob Marley and The Wailers. Some of the highlights are the reggae-rock fusion of \"Day By Day\" with Ziggy Marley, the smooth and soulful \"Girlz 'Round Da World\" with Morgan Heritage, and the dancehall anthem \"Na Na Na Na\" with 112 and Spragga Benz.

But who is Damian Marley and how did he become one of the most influential reggae artists of his generation In this article, we will explore his biography, his musical journey and his achievements.
Damian Marley Biography
Damian Marley was born on July 21, 1978 in Kingston, Jamaica. He is the youngest son of reggae legend Bob Marley and Cindy Breakspeare, a Jamaican jazz singer and crowned Miss World 1976. Like several of Bob Marleyâs children, Damian was born out of wedlock and outside of Bobâs marriage to singer Rita Marley. [1] [2]
He was named after the character Damien Thorn from the movie The Omen, which his father watched shortly before his birth. However, Bob later regretted this choice and wanted to change his son's name to something more positive. He settled on Robert Nesta Jr., after his own middle name, but Damian kept his original name as well. [3] [4]
Damian grew up in a musical environment, surrounded by his siblings and half-siblings who were also involved in music. He was especially close to his brother Stephen Marley, who became his mentor and producer. He also inherited his father's passion for social justice and Rastafarian faith. [5] [6]
Damian Marley Musical Career
Damian Marley started his musical career at the age of 13, when he formed a group called The Shephards with the daughter of Freddie McGregor and the son of Third World's Cat Coore. The group performed at the 1992 Reggae Sunsplash festival, but soon disbanded. [7] [8]
He then embarked on a solo career, with the backing of his father's label Tuff Gong. He released his debut album Mr. Marley in 1996, which surprised many who were not used to hearing a Marley deejaying rather than singing. The album featured a mix of reggae, dancehall and hip hop influences, and showcased Damian's lyrical skills and social commentary. [9] [10]
His second album Halfway Tree came out in 2001 and won him his first Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. The album's title referred to his mixed heritage and background, as well as a landmark in Kingston that symbolized the cultural center of the city. The album featured guest appearances by Stephen Marley, Eve, Yami Bolo and others. [11] [12] ec8f644aee
